This workshop is a direct response to recent requests for a comprehensive, yet concise, history of photography. In this three-day workshop participants will attend several illustrated lectures on the evolution of the photographic process from its beginnings in the 1830s through the digital age. We’ll include the major photographic processes used in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Each lecture class will be followed by viewing notable examples of prints and plates by the masters of photography from the museum’s photography collection.
